Kundapur, Apr 30: Byndoor police have voluntarily registered a case in connection with death of Muthayya Naika (36) on Saturday, April 28 and decided to request for court’s permission for further investigations.
There were suspicions and discussions among local people that his brother killed him at Kambalagadde, Golihole, Byndoor and secretly burnt his dead body. But his family members informed that he had committed suicide. The incident is said to have happened on Thursday night and came to light on Saturday.
Muthayya Naika was employed in Mumbai and had returned to home town after his father’s death three months ago. He was severely addicted to alcohol and was not working. He was harassing the house people and his aged mother for money every day. It is said that there was a fight about it on Thursday ending in suicide or murder.
It was strange that the house people kept the matter a secret and the dead body was set on fire on their own land near the forest. The cutting of the trees for firewood there and hurriedly burning the dead body have given rise to suspicion. Spade, pickaxe and kerosene oil tin were found at the spot. Both dry and raw trees were cut. No work is performed at the place after burning the corpse.
People say that it is a murder by his brother as it was done secretly. If it was a suicide as his family claims, the police should have been informed about it. Not informing them is a crime as per law. The truth is expected only after investigations.
