Mangaluru: Mobile phone theft – accused, shop keeper arrested

Mangaluru, Apr 25: Kadri East station police arrested a person accused of robbing five mobile phones and recovered mobile phones worth Rs 39,000 and a couple of two-wheelers used for the crime. They have also arrested a shop keeper who bought mobiles from the suspect despite knowing that those were stolen goods.

The arrested suspects are Mohammed Irfan (21), resident near Kilariya mosque, Kasba, Bengre, Mangaluru and shop keeper Samsuddin (32), Ashiana apartment, near More supermarket, Pandeshwar, Mangaluru.

Irfan accompanied by a minor boy used to travel on an unregistered bike and scooter at Milagres, Hampankatta, Falnir, Dongarkeri and Kankanady during evenings and nights and snatch mobiles from people. They had sold five such phones to the mobile phone shop of Shamsuddin on Mangaluru market road. The shop keeper had bought the mobiles for fewer prices to sell at a profit even after knowing that those were stolen.

The operation was conducted by Mangaluru east police station inspector Maruti G Nayak, PSI Neetu R Gude, staff Venkatesh, Jayananda, Umesh, Girish Jogi, Mohan S Sivananda Bhajantri, Raghavendra, Beerendra, Hanumantha Abhilash, Dakappa, Anwar, Ravi and computer section staff Manoj under the leadership of Mangaluru assistant police commissioner M Jagadish.
