Kundapur, Apr 24: K Gopala Poojary filed nomination papers as Congress candidate in Byndoor Vidhan Sabha constituency on April 23.
“I have worked sincerely for the development of the constituency and responded to the demands of people after being elected as the MLA for four times. If I get elected, I will work towards solving the drinking water issue and ensure there is permanent water supply,” he said.
Responding on a query on how he plans to solve the water crisis, Poojary said that the river water which flows to the sea will be blocked with a dam and steps will be taken to ensure the improvement of ground water level. Attempt to convert sea water into sweet water for drinking is currently in progress in Shirur. If the attempt is a success, a plant to convert sea water into drinking water will start in the coastal region, he said.
“I have witnessed the difficulties faced by people living in Maravanthe due to terrible changes in weather. Houses near the sea are damaged. The need for safety is stressed. Steps will be taken to avoid disasters and damages due to adverse weather conditions,” he said.
“We will request for votes after informing about the achievements and development works of Siddaramaiah led government to the voters,” he added.
Election officer Srinivas received the nomination papers. Byndoor Block Congress President Madan Kumar, Publicity Committee President S Prakashchandra Shetty, District Congress Vice President Raju Poojary and Raju Devadiga were present.
