Speaking to media persons, Swamiji said that he had decided contest the elections as an independent as he did not get a BJP ticket. He said, “I wanted to contest on a BJP ticket. As I was not given one, I will now fight the elections as an independent candidate,”
“I will walk in the footsteps of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP national president Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath. Even though I am contesting the elections as an independent, my support is directly for PM Modi. My candidature as an independent will benefit PM Modi. I am confident of winning due to people’s support,” he said.
On media query that he was not a BJP member for being given ticket to contest elections, he said, “I have been voting for BJP from the past 40 years. I have always supported the party. Is that not enough for me to get a ticket?”
When asked about his words of praise for district in-charge minister Pramod Madhwaraj at a Congress programme some time ago, he said, “I was invited there and found no way out. I had to speak good things about Pramod Madhwaraj at that programme. But I have always supported only BJP,”
Speaking further Swamiji said that he was awaiting the visit of PM Modi to the district. “PM Modi will be here in the first week of May. If he is ready to meet me and requests me to withdraw my nomination, I will definitely listen to him. Even then, I will try and ask for a BJP ticket to contest the upcoming elections,” he said.
