Bengaluru, Apr 6: High drama prevailed here on Friday April 6 after rowdy-sheeter and former corporator V Nagaraj alias Bomb Naga attempted suicide by consuming poison during a press meet.
Nagaraj, who was in the news after police raided his house and recovered Rs 14 crore in demonetised currencies, had called for a press meet at the city's press club premises at around 2 pm to distribute a press release to the members of media. In his address to the press, he accused two Congress ministers K J George and Dinesh Gundu Rao of cheating him and consumed poison.
He then showed a small bottle which he claimed was poison and started drinking it, alleging that he was being harassed by these two leaders. Immediately he was shifted to the Bowring hospital by his supporters.
In a 51-page 'death note', he stated that though he has chances of winning the coming Assembly elections from Gandhinagar constituency, the police have filed false cases against him and his two sons in collusion with a present Congress MLA in order to hamper his candidature. He also alleged that he was being pressured into leaving Bengaluru.
In the release Nagaraj, who is a former corporator has listed the names of 80 people including Gundu Rao’s wife, IPS officers Hemanth Nimbalkar, Ajay Hilori, Sis, ASIs and even constables who are alleged to have harassed him and his family.
Nagaraj had earlier been sent to jail on charges of sexually assaulting his brother’s wife and daughter.
