Tumakuru, Apr 6: During a Jana Ashirwad Jatra in Tumakuru on Thursday, Congress president Rahul Gandhi was surprised when a garland came flying from nowhere and plopped down around his neck.
The incident occurred when Gandhi was on a road show in Tumakuru. When he was waving at a crowd from his open top SUV, a supporter threw a garland at him which neatly landed around his neck. The video of the same has gone viral on social media where the Congress scion looks startled. However, Gandhi continued with his road show thereafter.
While many have appreciated the spot-on-aim of the supporter, quite a few cautioned about security lapses during the 47-year-old Congress chief's road show. He is among India's most protected politicians with special commandos guarding him at all times.
Rakshith Shivaram, the secretary of the Congress's Karnataka unit shared the video on Twitter and called it a sign ahead of the state elections on May 12. Divya Spandana who is heading the Social Media and Digital Communications AICC tweeted the video with a caption, "Karnataka’s got talent!"
Gandhi is on his fifth round of campaigning ahead of Karnataka assembly elections due on May 12.
