Kasargod, Apr 2: The call for general strike given by labour organizations in the state in protest against anti-labour policies of the central government has disrupted normal life in the district.

There is no movement of buses including the ones operated by KSRTC. Shops and establishments have downed their shutters. Attendance in government offices has been thin. Only a handful of private vehicles can be seen moving on the roads.

Employees of a number of government concerns like banks, insurance, BSNL, teachers etc have been participating in the strike. All the organizations except Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh have supported the strike call.

Strike call has been given for a period of 24 hours. It will be on right from midnight on Sunday to Monday midnight. In this context, examinations which were to be held today have been postponed.

Labour organizations took out a protest march in the town today.
