BJP will work like a double-barrel engine in state: Minister

Bengaluru Apr 2 (DHNS): Union Information Technology Minister Ravishankar Prasad on Sunday charged that the Congress had forfeited the trust of the people of the state and said the BJP would put Karnataka on the development track once voted to power.

Speaking after releasing three 'chargesheet' booklets against the ruling Congress - on the government's apathy towards farmers, the collapse of law and order in the state and misgovernance of Bengaluru - Prasad said the BJP would put in place an effective development plan for Karnataka.

"BJP will act like a double-barrel engine and work with full force," the union minister said. People of the state were waiting to vote the Congress out of power, he added.

'Follow Rahul, go wrong'

He said the Siddaramaiah government had hardly three to four concrete achievements to speak of during the last five years. "I cannot entirely blame Siddaramaiah because he has to follow his boss (Congress chief) Rahul Gandhi. Those who follow Rahul are bound to go wrong," Prasad said.

He said BJP and its allies were in power in 22 states and Congress had hit a new low, reduced to being an 'April Fool joke'.

In the booklets, BJP has accused the Congress of ruining Bengaluru and turning the state capital into a 'garbage' and 'crime' city. It also lists out 'large-scale corruption' in city-related works. The 'chargesheet' on law and order mentions the increase in crimes like chain-snatching, assault on innocents and children, murders and atrocities on women.

As many as 3,500 farmers have committed suicide during the last five years due to the apathy of the government, party state general secretary Shobha Karandlaje said.

CM, will bite the dust: BSY

BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa on Sunday said both Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his son Yathindra will bite the dust in the Assembly polls as people want to teach them a lesson, reports DHNS from Bengaluru.

Speaking to reporters here, Yeddyurappa said, "Siddaramaiah has announced that he will contest from Chamundeshwari and is planning to field his son from Varuna. I challenge to defeat both of them. Only then the BJP will be satisfied," he said.

In fact, the BJP is planning to field Yeddyrappa's second son B Y Vijayendra from Varuna against Yathindra.

Yeddyrappa said BJP president Amit Shah will tour the districts of Belagavi, Bagalkot and Haveri for two days from Monday. In the next leg, Shah will tour the districts of Raichur, Ballari and Koppal for two days from April 12.
