Mangaluru, Mar 20: Dakshina Kannada district BJP spokesperson, Jitendra Kottary, said that when BJP recently erected flexes and banners in the city on account of Jan Suraksha Yatra, deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district had served notice to city corporation commissioner and got them cleared immediately. He also issued instructions not to display banners, flexes etc in the city illegally. However, Congress party, by erecting flexes and banners of Janasheervada Yatra now, has violated this order.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP office in the city on Monday March 19, Kottary claimed that the banners and flexes of BJP were got removed a day before the Jan Suraksha Yatra through the deputy commissioner by ministers, Ramanath Rai and U T Khader as well as MLA, J R Lobo, who brought pressure on the deputy commissioner. "The order of the deputy commissioner is in force even now. Congress leaders have flagrantly violated the order this time by hoisting flexes and banners," he stated. He wanted to know whether the rule made applicable to the BJP does not cover the Congress.
He said that at a programme held in the city under the aegis of a Christian forum of businessmen, only Congress leaders were invited, and BJP was criticized, adding that a member of BJP Minority Morcha office bearer, who is associated with this entity, was neglected. He thought that the organization could have come to the rescue of Christian families in Jeppu Missionary compound instead of whiling away time criticizing BJP.
Opposition leader in the corporation council, Premananda Shetty, corporators, Ganesh Hosabettu, Sudheer Shetty Kannur, Roopa D Bangera, and BJP minority morcha leader, Lyadin D'Silva, were present.
