Kaup, Feb 14: "Congress state government led by Siddaramaiah has the responsibility to fulfill promises made in connection to the revenue department. Discussions are held with the department officials about it. There are several problems in the coastal region that need immediate attention. Therefore, a special meeting will be held with the MLA of Kaup within a week," said Karnataka minister of revenue, Kagodu Thimmappa.
He was speaking in Kaup Bungalow grounds on Wednesday, Feb 14 after inaugurating and officially declaring Kaup as a taluk. He also announced several facilities to the new taluk.
"It has been MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake's dream to see Kaup develop into a taluk. The government has announced Kaup taluk as per his wish, bowing to the demands of elected representatives in the constituency and the people. The government has the responsibility of providing basic necessities and convert Kaup as a model taluk. I am bound in this connection to provide all the necessities by the end of this month," he said.
Mentioning several problems in Kaup legislative constituency concerning the revenue department, he said that the work can be completed only if the laziness of the officials is driven off. "We will have to shout at them for it. I have asked revenue officials and village accountants to go to the villages to gather information to find solutions regarding title deeds to those who are living on government land and other problems. The work will start from tomorrow itself," he assured.
Kaup MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake who chaired the programme said that creation of taluk is essential for Kaup to get its identity. "The demand was presented in front of the chief minister and the revenue minister. They responded to it positively. All the offices will come to Kaup after the creation of Kaup taluk. It will be beneficial to people. A master plan to develop Kaup Bangle grounds as government complex will be set in motion soon," he said.
Udupi deputy commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis, Zilla panchayat executive Shivananda Kapashi, Kaup municipal council president Malini, vice president H Usman, Zilla panchayat member Wilson Rodrigues, Fr Gerdinand Gonsalves, Fr Rock D’ Souza, KPCC secretary Dr Deviprasad Shetty, Dr Rajashekar Kotian, Kaup block congress president Navinchandra J Shetty, taluk campaign committee president Kaup Leeladhar Shetty, elites K P Acharya, Dr Prabhaker Shetty, Sridhar Shenava, K Vasudeva Shetty, K Manohar Shetty, Deepak Kumar Ermal and others were present.
Acting tahsildar Pradeep Kurdeker welcomed. Kaup project authority president Kaup Diwaker Shetty gave an introductory address. Taluk panchayat executive Mohan Raj proposed vote of thanks. Sathischandra Shetty Chitrapady compered the programme.
Distribution of different facilities
Three beneficiaries under Pashu Bhagya project, 20 under milk producer’s support fund, three under Bidai project, assistance for construction of community hall, endowment department, six under Udyogini project, sanction of 20 houses under housing projec, 76 beneficiaries under 'Sandhya Suraksha', 35 beneficiaries of widows' pension scheme, six physically challenged pensioners, six old age pensionsioners, 67 title deeds under 94C and 94CC, three cheques from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, one cheque under natural calamities fund and several other facilities were distributed on the occasion.
