Mangalore: We’ll Speak Less and Work More: Yeddyurappa

MANGALORE, Aug 4: Meeting people’s aspirations is the foremost priority of the government, Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has said.
Speaking to presspersons at Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala on Sunday, Yeddyurappa said people were the masters, and the government would strive for the all-round development of the State. “We will speak less and work more.”
Expressing happiness over the copious rainfall, which had lessened the apprehensions of drought, Yeddyurappa said rivers were overflowing and reservoirs in the State were filling up. Noting that this augured well for development of the State, the Chief Minister pointed out that it would help the government live up to its promise of providing free power to farmers.
Yeddyurappa reiterated the government’s resolve to contain chikungunya in Dakshina Kannada district. Dismissing the allegations by the Congress leaders that the government had failed to check the epidemic, he said they were making such charges though they were aware of the steps taken by the government.
He said the police had been instructed to deal with anti-social elements and naxalites operating in the Malnad region with a firm hand. The police would be provided modern weapons to tackle the challenge posed by terrorists, he said.
