Religion and faith offers deep spiritual wisdom in promoting peace and prosperity. Demonstrating our faith in God by virtues of pilgrimage will no doubt build cohesion among our communities. During these times of trouble, distrust and deterioration in political will and bankruptcy in leadership, we need religious unity to affirm our solidarity to usher harmony and save our youth from shedding blood for causes that do not make any sense. Bigotry, intolerance and segregation can be won if our religious leaders can bring about a revolution in preaching harmony. In Latin ‘Religare’ means to ‘bind’ and ‘Religio’ lends meaning to ‘obligation’ that is, bond and reverence. We need to challenge our religious and political leaders to promote peace and prosperity instead of division and disharmony.
