Kundapur: Congress protests, slams MLA Haladi Srinivas Shetty for ‘betraying’ voters

Kundapur, Feb 1: Members of Congress party held mass protests near Shastri Circle here on Thursday, Februray 1 over the resignation of independent MLA in Kundapur Haladi Srinivas Shetty before the completion of his term.

State INTUC president Rakesh Mally said that resigning from the post of MLA and joining BJP shows Haladi Srinivas Shetty’s selfish attitude. “He has betrayed the citizens who elected him. Resigning all of a sudden without attending the problems in the constituency is a painful matter. Elected representatives resigning every now and then for personal gain is disastrous for the democratic system. The electorate of Kundapur will teach him a lesson in the next elections,” he said.



Youth Congress leader Amrith Shenoy said that Haladi Srinivas Shetty who was in a responsible position has resigned in a hurry saying that his name is not found in the list of BJP ticket aspirants. “He has betrayed the people of Kundapur with a selfish motive. I hope that Congress will put a break to the political haste of Srinivas Shetty,” he said.

Congress workers raised slogans against the MLA.

The protests were jointly held by Kundapur and Kota Block Congress. Graduate constituency Congress candidate Dinesh K C, City Project Authority president Vikas Hegde, Congress leaders Roshni Olivera, Chandrashekar Kharvi, Sridhar Sherigar, Devaki, Jyothi Putran, Shanker Poojary from Kota, Ichitarth Shetty, Mallika Balakrishna

Poojary, Mallika and others were present.
