Udupi, Jan 27: Recognizing remarkable achievements in Konkani literature, the prestigious 'Daiji Literary Puraskar-2018' will be conferred on prominent Konkani's novelist Ron Roche Cascia at Pavan Roof-Top Hall in Kediyoor Hotel here on January 28.
The highly prestigious Daiji Dubai Literary Puroskar would be presented and bestowed Ron Roche along with an amount of Rs 75,000, a citation and certificate of honour.
Ron Roche, the thriller novelist and short story writer, first forayed into the world of Konkani literature with a suspense thriller ‘Sarallam Patlyan’ (Behind Bars) in 1973, published in 'Kannik' and followed by ‘Ami Nov’ published in 'Mithr' in 1974. His literary journey still continues.
Ron Roche has written 14 novels and nearly 60 short stories. His articles are published in all Konkani magazines. Apart from writing, Ron Roche is also a good singer. He has presented nearly 60 songs in dramas and programmes after forming musical group with his companion poet Lawrence D' Souza.
Chief guests for the function Joseph Mathias, NRI businessman and Konkani singer and Fr Chethan, the editor of ‘Uzwad’ fortnightly will be present.
Writer and critic G Rajashekhar will deliver a talk on the topic 'Challenges writers face in interpreting facts and untruth in internet era' .
Author Stan Ageira’s new book will also be released on the programme which is published by 'Uzwad' Konkani fortnightly. Prizes to the winners of 'Uzwad Daiji' literary competition will also be distributed.
Daiji Dubai is a forum of active Konkani writers based in Dubai providing good service to Konkani Language and Literature for last several years.
