Mangaluru, Jan 26: The 69th Republic Day was celebrated with pomp and fervor by the staff and management of the well known City Centre Mall on Friday, January 26.
The celebrations commenced with MLA J R Lobo hoisting the national tricolor and speaking to the gathering about the sanctity of the occasion and the role played by the Constitutional makers, with particular reference to Dr B R Ambedkar.
“Keeping in mind equal rights and citizenship to all without any discrimination Dr Ambedkar and his team drafted the Constitution. They treated every person equally as every citizen of the country is important in nation building. India’s Constitution should be a model for other nations of the world,” said Lobo.
Mayor Kavita Sanil said, "The Constitution gives freedom of diversity. It also ensures unity within our territory. It is our duty to follow the Constitution and keep high the values of our country.”
A C Vinayraj, corporator, Vedavyas Kamath, president, BJP, Mangaluru South, Shashidhar Hegde, corporator, Masoodh, and S M Harshad, Managing Director, Mohtisham were present.
Earlier in the morning, as part of Republic Day celebrations, the management and staff engaged in cleaning the streets of K S Rao Road and old service bus stand. S M Harshad, took leadership and led the team in cleaning the streets.
