Mangaluru, Jan 24: Social worker and political leader Hameed Kandak passed away on Wednesday January 24 after suffering a cardiac arrest during a programme. He was 72.
Hameed Kandak was addressing a talk organized by AHINDA district unit to mark Republic Day at Hotel Woodland here, when he collapsed.
He was immediately rushed to hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

Kandak had been at forefront of several social movements and was a leader of the Muslim community. He had served as member of the All-India Haj Committee, and as vice-president of the Dakshina Kannada Muslim Central Committee. He had also been the president of Central Market merchants' association and was a member of several other bodies.
He was also an active member of the Congress.
Kandak was engaged in the travel industry. He leaves behind his wife, four sons and a daughter.
The funeral will be held at Central Juma mosque premises on Thursday January 25, sources said.
