Mangaluru: DGGI officer Allen Rajesh Vas to receive President’s medal

Mangaluru, Jan 24: Allen Rajesh Vas, working as senior intelligence officer, Directorate General of Goods and Services Tax Intelligence (DGGI) in Mangaluru regional unit will be conferred the Prestigious Presidential Award of Appreciation for his Specially Distinguished Record of Service on the occasion of Republic Day, 2018.

Vas is credited to have individually gathered intelligence/information on tax evasion and booked cases involving more than Rs 41 crores. He has also played a prominent role in booking cases of duty evasion of more than Rs 100 crores and succeeded in recovering duty of more than Rs 62 crores.

In a press release, Director General of GST Intelligence (Mangaluru Regional Unit) Assistant Director D M Soori notes that Vas with his high acumen has detected and investigated high profile tax evasion cases spread all over India. “The remarkable competence, devotion to duty and consistently high level of performance makes Allen Rajesh Vas a worthy recipient of the Prestigious Presidential Award of Appreciation for his Specially Distinguished Record of Service,” says the release.
