Kasargod, Jan 19: An elderly lady was found allegedly murdered with her hands and legs tied in her house at Uduma here on Friday January 19.
The deceased has been identified as Uduma Ayyampara resident Zubaida (60). Jewellery and cash are said to be missing from the house.
The incident came to light in the afternoon at about 12.30 pm. Zubaida was staying alone in the house. As she was not seen for the last two days, the local went to her house to enquire and found her dead.
It is suspected that she was murdered two days ago.
The two entrance doors of the house were locked from the outside. Two glasses of lime juice were found in the house. Two gold bangles and a chain that Zubaida used to wear are suspected to have been taken away by the culprits.
Bekal police, senior police officers, forensic experts and canine squads have reached the spot and started investigations.
This is the second murder in Bekal in recent months. A woman called Devaki in Katiadka, Panayal was murdered here a few months ago and cash and valuables were robbed. The suspects could not be arrested yet.
