Mangaluru, Jan 19: The second JMFC court here has issued summons for the personal appearance of Sri Rajashekharananda Swamiji of Vajradehi Math, Gurpur near here. The Swamiji is proposed to be examined over disturbances connected with protest held on December 9, 2014 at Ulaibettu near here.
Alleging that Datta Peeta pilgrims had been attacked without any reason or provocation, Hindu organizations including Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal had held protest rally on the above date from Vamanjur Junction to Ulaibettu.
As a precautionary measure, the protesters had been withheld at Parari. The protesters, who resented this action of the police, had squatted on the road to register their anguish. As stones began to be hurled at that time, the police had resorted to caning to disperse the protesters.
