Udupi: Harsha marks Paryayotsava with enchanting 'Swaranjali' musical evening

Udupi, Jan 18: Harsha, the renowned house of electronic and home appliances organized ‘Swranjali’, a musical evening on Wednesday, January 17 in Town Hall, Ajjarkad here to mark 'Paryayotsava'.

Rajya Sabha member Oscar Fernandes and Blossom Fernandes inaugurated the event in the presence of Hindustani classical singer Prof M Venkatesh Kumar, Dharwad.

Harsha, which has become a household name for consumer electronics all over Karnataka organizes ‘Swaranjali’ in Udupi every Paryaya Mahotsava. Many great Hindustani, classical and singers have performed in these musical shows. It is a treat to the fans of classical music.

A large crowd witnessed the musical event.

Prof M Venkatesh Kumar is a renowned Hindustani classical singer. He was also a closest associate of Pandit Bhimsen Joshi. Pandit Venkatesh has been awarded with Swarashree, Sangeeta Ratna and Kannada Rajyotsava award. He was also awarded the Padmashree in 2016. He received his doctorate from Karnataka University.

Addressing the gathering, Prof Kumar said, "I am a village lad who just completed 4th standard. But with the blessings of Puttaraju Gawai, I am here today."

Pandit Ragunath Nakode and Vyasamoorthi Katti accompanied him in tabla and harmonium respectively. Their Jugalbandhi enthralled the audience.

Minister for youth, sports and fisheries, Pramod Madhwaraj, managing directors of Harsha were present for the event.
