Bengaluru, Jan 17: National president of BJP, Amit Shah, who has made it mandatory to hold surveys before finalizing the names of candidates for the assembly election, is now learnt to have made it compulsory for completing survey before admitting leaders from other parties including legislators who desire to join the saffron party.
It is said that BJP will henceforth undertake detailed study about the likely affects of admitting MLAs and other leaders from Congress and JD(S) before admitting them into the party. After the survey, the party plans to offer them the promise of issuing assembly ticket before holding out green signal for their admission.
BJP leaders, who are hell bent on bringing the party to power in Karnataka in the assembly election, had forged an understanding with over ten legislators from Congress and JD(S) who wanted guarantee about issuance of party ticket before entering the party. These leaders are now facing a dilemma. The top leaders fear that admitting them into the party suddenly and issuing them tickets might earn the ire of long-time loyalists of the party who might work against the partyis interests and bring about its downfall.
Shah has already got a list of MLAs from other parties who want to join BJP. He has been undertaking survey through his own sources about the likely chances of their victory, affect on the party if they are admitted into the party etc. He also has asked the state unit of the party to conduct detailed check of antecedents of these aspirants.
