Bengaluru: Road rage leading to assault on New Year's night, 5 arrested

Bengaluru, Jan 17: The Bengaluru city police have arrested five men for assaulting a biker, his brother and a woman in an incident of road rage on New Year's night.

The incident that happened at Mottappanapalaya in Indiranagar 6th stage and captured on CCTV cameras shows that a gang of at least 12 drunk men partying on middle of the road obstructing traffic, when a biker riding triple with his brother and a woman, brushes against one of the members.

In a fit of rage, the gang members push the trio from the bike and beat them up.

The victims who were later identified to be from Darjeeling did not file a police complaint, but the incident came to light after a few TV Channels picked up the footage and telecasted the assault.

The Indiranagar police took up a suo-motu case and arrested five men including two rowdy sheeters, Lokesh and Ambarish, residents of Indiranagar.

The police are also on the lookout for others who were involved in the assault.

“Since we have the footage, we have taken up a suo-motu case and have arrested five persons. It was a case of road rage. The incident happened on the New Year's night," Additional Commissioner of Police (East) Seemanth Kumar Singh told media.

    Let us admit that universally the fear of law (read police) is ebbing out. These anti socials do not even bother that they will waste life in the prisons; even if for a few days.     ,These days media will portray that Mangalore is uncivilized,communal riot city etc.Between once you live in Bangalore's outskirts area ,once they get boozed they don't understand anything,pakka "gattadaklu". We need not say bangaloreans are peaceful,late night, or even if you are in travelling in train.GATTADAKLU somewhat uncultured rough.

    North east people were victims. They were harassed and beaten up by our own state locals who were goons and rowdy sheeters'.

    These rowdies if had the fear our police did not have done this. They are having a free world there and can beat anyone who are passing by just for a silly reason. This kind of incidents will spoil the name of our state.

    We should not support these goons but condemn it.
