Udupi, Jan 12: District in-charge minister Pramod Madhwaraj inaugurated the three-day ‘POWER Parba'18' hosted by Platform of Women Entrepreneurs (POWER) at Mahatma Gandhi Bayalu Rangamandira, Beedinagudde on Thursday, January 11.

The minister cut the ribbon and inaugurated the exhibition while deputy commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis lighted the lamp.

Addressing the gathering, minister Pramod Madhwaraj said, “POWER is growing every year. It presents a good platform and opportunity for self employed women. This is a very useful group for women entrepreneurs. Everyone should make use of it.”

DC Priyanka Mary Francis said, “It is indeed great to be part of this event. This is the second edition of ‘POWER Parba’ of which I am part of. The members of POWER are really talented. Nowadays there are many opportunities, but women are left behind or sometimes ignored. They need someone to guide them. So here they can speak to the right person. They can explore and build their talent and stand on their own feet. Such intervention is possible through team POWER.

“POWER is growing every year. Confidence is building among budding women entrepreneurs. They will find a place for marketing their products, explore talents, and showcase their skills. I am indirectly part of POWER. One of my pet projects found a place here in the exhibition that is solid and liquid resource management. A stall has been put up. Women here segregate 160 different categories of domestic waste. Rangoli powder is made out of dry waste.

“I would like to thank POWER for organising such a meaningful event. This will strengthen women entrepreneurs,” she said.

Today, world over, women are gaining remarkable acceptance in all spheres of life. This is a wonderful platform for women to promote goods and services dealt by them and will go a long way in strengthening women entrepreneurial activity adding value to state GDP.

“The contribution of women is omnipresent and all pervasive as India seeks to march steadily towards the path of growth. All this is possible only because of the active participation of women and qualitative growth of future generation as well. Many women have emerged as exemplary leaders. The presence of women in various decision making bodies will develop confidence among women and open up possibilities for the future. It is important to note the critical role played by working together to forge solidarity and unity among themselves. They have also been able to to influence the enactment of laws. This will protect and promote the rights of women. They have become a driving force for socio-economic development. This event will be a good stage for them,” he said.

More than 150 stalls have been set up at the venue like textiles, handicrafts, food, jewellery, Fashion accessories, textiles, paintings, home decor, cosmetics and many more. Few MSME stalls are also participating in the event. Each registrant will be provided with individual stalls equipped with basic furniture to display their products, electrical connections, lighting uninterrupted power supply and also digital payment facilities.

POWER Parba also witnessed Swacch Bharath – Go green concept to emphasize the importance of cleanliness and going green by producing less waste disposal, less use of plastics, helping business owners to change to a green model and also keep their surroundings and premises clean and tidy.

"POWER Parba 2018" is an apt example of Women's empowerment in the field of Industry & Commerce.

With Women Officials holding 2 of the top administrative posts in Karnataka (Chief Secretary and DG & IG of Police, respectively), 2018 beckons women to rise to the top of their respective fields, and more so, in fields which were hitherto thought to be meant for menfolk only.

Hope women all over India take the leap and grab this opportunity with both hands, to make a great mark in society.

after all these political /right wing/left wing events/stories..........some relief and really a heart warming event from our coastal ladies.......flagged off by our own talented and honest coastal DC....Ms. Priyanka ...Very encouraging to see this happen.....kudos to those who organized it.

This is the India i want to see, where our lady entrepreneurs are encouraged and supported.
These kind of events inspire and encourage all and bring growth and prosperity to the region.

I wonder where our politicians and religious heads are........may be this event may not be as exciting as they do not get to disturb peace/tranquility.......better they stay away!!!

    well done

It looks the women power is super excited.

Specially Auto rickshaw driving lady shows they can be every field.

The women force should race forward in all fields irrespective of their other commitments. They should also help each other, specially hand hold is required for women from rural areas. They need to be given financial support to develop entrepreneurship.

Great and we wish them all the best.
