Udupi, Dec 26: “It is welcome that parents desire their children to study at prestigious schools. Children need guidance upto a certain stage. They should be given freedom to mold their lives after they reach adulthood,” said Udupi deputy commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis. She was spoke as chief guest at the 55th anniversary celebrations of Madhava Kripa School, Manipal held on December 19 and 20.
Manipal MIT director and Mahe deputy chancellor Dr G K Prabhu who chaired the programme said, "It is not your dream, but the dream of the child that should be realized. Every type of education is important in its own right. Parents should understand it and be guides to students.”
Manipal KMC deputy medical superintendent Dr Padmaraj Hegde invoked blessings of the Almighty.
Old student of the school and teacher Shobha Hegde prompted the oath to inaugurate the old students association. DC Priyanka Mary Francis released the annual magazine of the school. Students who secured highest marks in tenth standard and second PUC final examination were presented certificates and scholarships. Sooraj Prabhu who secured 100 marks each in Math and Computer Science was felicitated on the occasion.
Convener P G Pandith commemorated the achievement of Dr T M A Pai the mastermind of Manipal. Principal Jessy Andrews read the report. Parent teacher association president Harish Raj conveyed his best wishes. Vice principal Jyothi Santhosh welcomed everyone. School student Arathi Rao compered the programme. Dikshith C proposed the vote of thanks. School vice principal Shashilakshi Krishna and headmistress Uma Rao were present. Stunning dances by students after the hall programme attracted the audience.
