Mangaluru, Dec 22: The lamp lighting and oath taking ceremony of 30th batch of 1st year BSc Nursing and 60th batch of GNM nursing was held on December 21.
The programme started with a prayer song. Dr Bharathi M, principal, ECIS College of Nursing, Bengaluru, chairman, Board of Studies, UG Nursing, RGUHS was the chief guest.
Fr Richard A Coelho presided over the programme. The programme was inaugurated by garlanding the portrait of Father Augustus Muller and Florence Nightingale. The nursing leaders lighted the lamp of budding nightingales. Sr Jacintha Dsouza, principal Father Muller College of Nursing administered the oath.
The chief guest addressed the gathering expressing the responsibilities of a nurse and the student’s role during their study. Fr Richard expressed his views on nursing profession and the students to be responsible and pleasant providing tender loving care to the patients and be an instrument of healing.
Prof Victoria D’Almeida, vice-principal, College of Nursing, welcomed the gathering. Jasmine Saritha Vas, principal, School of Nursing rendered the vote of thanks. Sr Deepa Peter, HOD, department of nursing foundation introduced the chief guest. Sr Janet Dsouza gave a talk regarding the importance of nursing.
