Puttur, Dec 21: Mai de Deus Higher Primary School celebrated its 80th annual day on December 13 in the school premises with variety of programme.
The programme was inaugurated with flag-hoisting ceremony in the morning by Roopa T Shetty, corporator in Puttur. Correspondent Fr Alfred J Pinto and PTA vice-president were present on the occasion.
In the evening, guests and chief guests were escorted by the school band to the dais. Subramanya Nattoja was the chief guest and Francis D’souza was the guest of honor of the programme.
The programe started with a prayer. Teacher Wilma Maria D’Souza welcomed the guests and gathering. Headmistress Janet D’Souza read the annual report and highlighted the achievements of the year. Prizes were distributed by the chief guests to the winners of various competitions conducted on account of school day.
Chief guests expressed their views and opinions about the education and said, “Education is not for degree, but for the knowledge.” Correspondent Fr Alfred J Pinto in his presidential speech said that good moral values should be inculcated in students by their parents. Vice-president of PTA Balachandra Sorake and the president of old students association Sathish Ballyaya were present on the dais.
Assistant teacher Kumudakshi and Roopakala were the master of the ceremony and Nayana rendered the vote of thanks. Cultural programme was exhibited by the students. Israth, Nourin Fathima and Ayshath Nishma were the master of ceremony of the cultural programme.
The programme concluded with ‘National Integration ‘dance.
