Bengaluru, Dec 13: Former Prime Minister and national president of JD(S), H D Deve Gowda, suggested to chief minister, Siddaramaiah, on Tuesday December 12 to hold an all party meeting to discuss incidents of communal violence being witnessed in coastal Karnataka and make an honest effort to put an end to violence.
Gowda expressed the opinion that both Congress and BJP were responsible for the turmoil. He said both these parties have been indulging in abetting communal violence with eye on getting political advantage.
Deve Gowda said that it is the responsibility of the state government to handle the problem. "It can contain violence either by holding meet of all political parties or by taking firm steps to bring the situation under control. I had succeeded in solving Idgah Maidan issue in the past. Likewise, this government can take goodwill measures and solve this problem by deftly handling the situation," he felt.
State president of JD(S), H D Kumaraswamy, too squarely blamed political parties with national stature of indulging in violence with the aim of disturbing peace and tranquility in the state's coast. Kumaraswamy disclosed that his party will be organizing SC/ST convention at palace grounds here on Wednesday. He expects the gathering to be over one lac people.
