Mangaluru, Nov 9: The bodies of two of the security personnel who met tragic death when fast asleep inside Talapady K C Road branch of Kotekar Agricultural Service Cooperative bank on Tuesday November 7 night, identified as Umesh and Somanath, were cremated on Tuesday while the mortal remains of Santosh were consigned to flames on Wednesday November 8.
In the meanwhile, a case stands registered against the board of directors of the said bank, branch manager, and chief of security agency to which two of the deceased persons belonged, for negligence.
Santosh from Manjanady, Somanath from Kolya Kasimbettu, both of whom belonged to a private security agency, and Umesh, employed as permanent security staff of the bank, all of whom had slept inside bank premises, had died ostensibly due to the inhalation of poisonous gases arising out of generator. Minister, U T Khader, took part in the funeral held on Wednesday.
Case under section 304A of Indian Penal Code (causing death by negligence) stands registered in Ullal police station against the bank's board of directors, branch manager, and security agency.
In its emergency meeting, board of directors of the bank, which met on Wednesday, discussed about paying compensation to the families of the deceased security men because of their poor background. The meeting decided to pay compensation to all the three families. The bank branch, which had been locked by police for investigation, was opened on Wednesday for normal business.
