Mangaluru, Nov 2: A complaint stands registered in Ullal police station against a 65-year-old man who runs a shop at Kotekar Uchila. He has been accused of sexually harassing girls visiting his shop to buy things. The accused has been identified as Abdul Razack (65), a resident of Kotekar Uchila.
Razack operates a provisions store at Uchila. It is said that continuing with his habit, Razack sexually harassed a seven-year-old girl on Wednesday November 1 evening when she visited his shop, after leading her into the shop. The girl had narrated about the incident at her home after which the mother of the girl and her grandmother came to the shop and questioned Razack about his unacceptable behaviour. Reportedly, Razack behaved with them callously.
As soon as the news about sexual harassment spread, people from two different communities gathered at the spot and the situation turned tense. Abdul Razack, making use of the volatile situation, escaped from the scene. Assistant police commissioner, Rama Rao, and Ullal police sub-inspector (crime and law and order), dispersed the mob and closed down the shop.
Police are investigating the complaint.
