Bengaluru: Krishna to field daughter Shambhavi in Rajarajeshwarinagar constituency

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Oct 31: Even as rumours of H D Deve Gowda's grandson, Prajwal Revanna, deciding to contest the assembly election from Rajarajeshwarinagar constituency in the city died down, it is being said now that former chief minister of Karnataka, S M Krishna, is planning to field his daughter, Shambhavi Umesh Mallya, as BJP candidate from this constituency.

If information provided by certain sources is to be believed, Krishna is already preparing the ground for introducing his daughter to politics. A number of Vokkaliga leaders from this constituency had met Krishna and urged him to field his daughter in order to bring an end to atrocities, harassment and corruption indulged in by current Congress legislator from this constituency, Munirathna.

Krishna has responded favourably and held discussions with leaders of various communities from this region including Vokkaligas, as per information.

Krishna's elder daughter, Malavika Siddharth, is not interested in politics but his younger daughter, Shambhavi, has a leaning towards politics. Krishna has identified her interest and begun to prepare the field for her entry. Rumours earlier had said that Krishna, who had left Congress and joined BJP recently, would make his son-in-law, Siddharth, a MLC. But no such developments have happened so far.

The fact that three women corporators of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike have revolted against local MLA, Munirathna, and that Vokkaliga community that has formidable presence in the constituency was given a rough treatment in the recent years, are coming in handy for Krishna's plans. It is being said that relationship of Munirathna and Vokkaliga leaders with minister, Shivakumar, is not too good. S M Krishna wants to encash this opportunity, political analysts believe.

Krishna had recently summoned an influential Vokkaliga leader from the area, who happens to be the chairman of a corporation and close to minister, Shivakumar, through former deputy chief minister of Karnataka, R Ashoka, for talks. There is also information that he invited several leaders who had left BJP for various reasons in the recent past, and held consultations with them.

Although Krishna has been requested by BJP leaders from Mandya to field his daughter from either Mandya or Maddur constituencies, Krishna has shown preference to Rajarajeshwari constituency here.

BJP is blaming Congress for Dynasty Politics! Most of the Indian Political Party's Central & State are introducing their family members to Politics as they want to hold power for their families itself at the cost of mass Indian people blindly voting them on party lines even though they themselves want to contest elections but don't have money power and guts to stand themselves and lack support from party members. We the voters support their family members to win!!!????????????

India may boast of being the world’s largest democracy, but in reality, it has turned into a ‘dynastic democracy’.

As a political commentator aptly put it, “While the US is known for its presidential democracy and Britain for its parliamentary democracy, India should be known for its dynastic democracy.”

Despite the BJP crying hoarse about the Congress and dynasty politics, the ruling party, and its alliance partners, is full of dynasts.
The fathers of eight of the 38 ‘dynast’ BJP MPs are or were chief ministers or deputy chief ministers. They include sons of incumbent chief ministers Raman Singh of Chhattisgarh and Vasundhara Raje of Rajasthan. Rajveer Singh, MP from Etah in UP, is the son of Rajasthan governor and former chief minister of UP, Kalyan Singh.

Uttar Pradesh tops the list: 12 of the 71 BJP MPs from the state have a political lineage. Bihar is second with five out of 22 and Maharashtra third with four out of 23 BJP MPs qualifying for the ‘dynast’ tag.
The list also includes 15 of the 75 ministers – or 20 per cent – in the council of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Elsewhere, four of the 13 BJP chief ministers have inherited politics from family members – Vasundhara Raje, Devendra Fadnavis, Yogi Adityanath and Pema Khandu.
The BJP may cry foul over the Gandhi family, but if it was truly against the dynasty culture in Indian politics, it would not have allowed ‘political families’ to proliferate in its own backyard. Interestingly, to checkmate the Gandhis, the BJP brought in Maneka Gandhi and her son Varun.

This ‘dynastic culture’ in Indian politics is no longer a mission but a profession. The priority of present-day politicians isn’t service to the nation. Often, it is the quest for power that brings them into politics. To hold on to power, the politician finds nothing better than promote their own family.

Until Indian democracy matures, people will have to put up with dynasties whether they like it or not. Jai Hind

    Jaimini,

If a man after becoming MP, CM and Governor is not happy, probably he wanted to either to be PM, FM or President. Why, after joining BJP he was not made Presidential candidate ? Certainly BJP too must have asked him to wait for an opportunity which Congress too may have told him.

As such, why he had to stoop low to introduce his daughter ? Could he not have done it while being in Congress ? No BJP nor any other party can satisfy a greedy man who wants to nibble at all possible positions in the world by hook or crook but by eligibility.

Instead, she will be haunted by the past of her father's positions in Congress. She will be a novice, not an experienced MP/CM/Governor father though she is introduced by the same experienced father who may well have introduced to the party he served for life than being a jump-ship.

Dear Jenifer...Sri SM Krishna served Nation through Congress..No doubt about that..He was the one who changed Karanataka's image through IT when he was the Chief Minister of Karnataka.. He did well as a Foreign Affairs Minister in Central....but, he was not given proper treatment by Italian Lady and his son..He was ignored..Finally, his heart did not allow him to continue in Congress..Enough is Enough...Now, he will settle the score through Shambhavi against those who insulted him..

Granted - Congress did not treat him well.. bla.. bla.. bla...

Where BJP made him the President ? The position fell vacant and the party suggested a name on caste basis ? Probably SMK would have been the candidate if he was in Congress !

Now, let him retire an let the next generation start from square one !

Politics is a very dirty business but a very lucrative one too. One has to work like a donkey once geting into it to succeed. Once one establishes into it and reaches to the position of MP/MLA, the honey starts yielding hence at retirement s/he doesn't want to think of a life without such flow of honey. Therefore the introduction of next generation into the business.

Now the question - why dynasty politics. How many of you, who criticize SMK introducing his daughter into politics, are ready to be a donkey and rise in ranks ? Not even one. Hence, vote to your favourite party/candidate and proceed. Protest against wrong policies so that democracy will win or be slaves and anticipate the end.
