Bantwal: Role model - ‘Clean Man’ retired government officer leads by example

Daijiworld Media Network - Bantwal (MS)

Bantwal, Oct 30: A Damodar, resident of Sanchayagiri, B C Road, has been following civic cleanliness in and around his ward for more than 15 years before the 'Swachh Bharath' announcement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi came into action. Because of his efforts, his ward has been awarded 'Complete Clean Ward' by Bantwal Municipality.

Damodar involved himself in social activities soon after his retirement, 15 years ago, from B C Road Senior Division Court. He started his efforts for this noble purpose from the vicinity of his house and then expanded to nearby areas and ultimately the complete ward. He is also known as the 'Clean Man' because of his efforts towards cleanliness.

If you visit the ward where he lives, you get to know the real meaning of the words 'cleanliness' and 'area without impurities". He also sees that water does not get stagnant in the drains during monsoon.

In addition to concern for clean environment, even at the age of 73, he also alerts people to pay the taxes in time. He takes the initiative to fill up the requisite forms, pays the money in banks on behalf of the residents of his ward and gives the receipts to concerned individuals.

Damodar is the first one to know any issues in Sanchayagiri ward, like non-supply of drinking water, power failure or telephones lines not working. He responds to these issues immediately and brings the same to the notice of the concerned department and ensures that the issue is resolved as quickly as possible.

While our civic service is lacking Mr.Damodar individual efforts with any pay is really remarkable and appreciable. This is the lesson for those who have misused 'Swachh Bharat' just for one day mission.
I would request the municipal corporation to reward such individuals so that they became role model.
I appreciate Daijiworld for bring this issue.

If each one keeps his surrounding clean more than half of the area becomes clean. But most of the cases lack basic notion of cleanliness. We collect our garbage and throw it in some other place. At least dispose one's garbage properly. It requiers a strong will to contribute for the wellness of society from every citizen from the little to the aged.
More over our functions and festivals manufacture how much waste. We also should give immediate attention to reduce the waste. It is good for our environment means good for us only. As our actions so are the reactions. Good will give good. Bad will give bad. It is all in each and every one of our hand.
Thank you and God bless each and every one of us.
