Mangaluru, Oct 27: Cow thieves stole a milking cow from the cowshed of Naveen Gujaran, a resident of Bogrugudde, Hosabettu village near Moodabidri on the night of Wednesday, Oct 26.
As per Sampath Gujaran, three people came in Innova car, and two of them tried to enter the cowshed. When the inmates of the house, who woke up due to the sound, tried to prevent the culprits from forcibly taking away the cow, they showed the sword and took the milking cow in the car, leaving the calf behind.
A case stands registered in this regard in the local police station.
Nagaraja Poojary and Gopal Shettigar, activists of pro-Hindu organisations. Sunil, Goraksha head, Samithraj, Daregudde, Sathish Shetty, member Hosabettu gram panchayath went to the police station and urged the police to arrest the culprits within a week.
Noticing the graveness of the situation, Rajendra, ACP, Panamboor, Ramachandra Naik, circle inspector, Moodbidri visited the house of the victim and collected information.
Locals reported that every day three vehicles were illegally transporting cattle to slaughterhouses on the Moodabidri Mahaveera College - paper mill - Vidyagiri route and also Hosabettu - Konnepadav - Mijar roads. Citizens pressurised the police for a nakabandi in these streets.
