Mangaluru, Oct 24: Police on Monday October 23 arrested students of a private college who were selling ganja at Balmatta area as well as in their college premises.
Acting upon definite information, Mangaluru South sub-division anti-rowdy squad successfully apprehended Shaheen K Ayub, Shehan Basheer, Sachin Pradeepan, residents of a building in Arya Samaj road. All the three have been accused of selling ganja and banned narcotics to students of their college and to the general public.
Police have recovered 400 grams of ganja from the arrested students. It is learnt that the culprits were carrying out this business for the past one year and a certain person by the name Eshwaran used to supply ganja to the accused students. In addition to the 400 grams of ganja, police have also recovered four mobile phones from the flat where the students used to reside.
This raid was conducted under the leadership of Hanumantharaya, IPS, DCP (law and order), and Uma Prashant, DCP (crime and traffic section) as per the directions of T R Suresh, Mangaluru city police commissioner. K Rama Rao, ACP, Mangaluru anti-rowdy squad and personnel of his department participated in the operation.
