Mangaluru, Oct 20: A video of men in confinement in the district prison here massaging fellow prisoners has got wide circulation. The video has since made appearance in social sites too and has become viral within a few days.

The district prison here has often hogged limelight for wrong reasons. It was in the news for organizing feast on birthday, attacks and counter attacks, factional fights, murder attempt, drugs etc. It has added another notorious tag now because of the video that has become public, of prisoners turning masseurs.

There is information that notorious criminals, gang leaders etc intimidate under-trial prisoners, new inmates etc into massaging their bodies, washing their clothes, charging their cellphones, washing their legs and hands, getting ganja from outside, extracting money etc. The junior prisoners also get ragged in various other ways. It is said that those who express reluctance to follow the diktats of the professional prisoners, get attacked.

In all probability, the contents of the video were shot from A block of the prison. It is unclear whether the video is recent or old. In the video, an inmate of the prison is seen massaging the legs of another prisoners who is found lying down. The person who is being served, is heard instructing in Tulu, 'Lobo, do massage properly'. In another part of the video, conversation in Beary language is also heard.

Officials said that they have taken serious note of this video that has been widely circulated. They said that a high level investigation has been instituted about them.

    It is even though illegal but happens in most of the prisons ,men or women unobserved all over the world..Where prisoners are for a long time there,,deal with drugs or sexual practiken They know when their observers catch them,get a heavy punishment.But they know also to avoid it.Many times police or their observers are cant go against it when not caught.

    I think the roles need to be reversed. The jail staff should be locked up for a month & made to perform these tasks on the other prisoners. Only then will things change.

    Look what happened to the biscuit king Mr. Rajan Pillai.

    Sad state of affairs Really feeling sad at teh way prisoners and hard criminals creating trouble and enjoying their life at prison . They need to be monitored well. There must eb stroict action aainst people who make use of jail as a holiday and merrymaking place
