Mangaluru, Oct 19: Police inspector and staff of economic and narcotics crime police station took a young man into custody for selling ganja and initiated action against him.
The police inspector and the staff on Thursday, October 19 were on duty rounds when the arrested him.
While on duty round, when they reached the curve of Tippu Sultan nagar, Mangaluru, Mohammed Naupal (30), a resident of Kudroli, Mangaluru who was standing holding a plastic bag tried to run away from the police after he saw the police jeep.
The police stopped him, questioned and checked his bag. They found ganja packed in small packets in the bag. The suspect confessed that he brought the ganja for sale.
Police recovered Rs 5,600 worth ganja weighing 245 grams from the suspect.
The operation was conducted by police inspector Mohammed Sharif and staff Jagadish, Shaju Nair and Kishore Poojary on guidance from Valentine D’ Souza, ACP CCRB, on directions from DCP, law and order Hanumantaraya and DCP crime and traffic Uma Prashanth and on orders from police commissioner T Suresh.
