Mangaluru, Oct 19: Leaders of certain Dalit organizations met city police commissioner and sought action against the owner of a bakery located at Jappinamogaru which falls under the  jurisdiction of Kankanady town police station.

The organizations claim that a dalit youth working in the said bakery had recently gone missing. Local taluk unit convener of Karnataka Dalit Sangharsh Samiti (Ambedkar), Jagadish Pandeshar, led a delegation which met police commissioner, T R Suresh, and related to him the turn of events. They narrated that the youth in question, Nandakumar from Manjalpalke in Kuryala village in Sullia taluk, who was working in Crown Bakery, Jappinamogaru since the last eight years, had gone missing from October 5. They also claimed that the bakery owner had a hand in this act and wanted the police to initiate action against him.

"Owner of the bakery, Rajit Kumar, had assaulted Nandakumar, kicked him, and confined him inside a toilet. The youth then slipped away through the window of the toilet and then went missing. This information was collected from a youth working there, who is a relative of Nandakumar. When the family approached the bakery owner seeking details about Nandakumar, he did not provide proper information," the protesters stated.

A case about the missing youth was registered in Kankanady town station. But there has been no progress in investigation. Therefore, they  sought action against the bakery owner.

Dalit rights state committee member, L Shekhar, and Dalit Sangharsh Samiti leades, Chandrappa Kinnigoli, Shivanand Kavoor, and Sadashiva Urva Store, were present.
