Mangaluru, Oct 18: In an incident which happened in the city on Tuesday October 17, the laptop of a medical student which had been stolen by another youngster from a hospital here was recovered with the help of video that was shared via WhatsApp. In this case, the accused was taken into custody from the central railway station and the laptop was recovered from his possession.
A medical student had kept his laptop on a table in a hospital. A youth who stole the laptop had gone away, but not before the CCTV captured his image. The student, on his return, found his laptop missing. He checked CCTV footage and could see that the thief had taken away his laptop. He immediately copied the footage and shared it on WhatsApp.
The youth who took away the laptop was seated in the central railway station and was found playing with the apps there. A friend of the student, who had seen the WhatsApp post, saw the thief and informed the student. The police were alerted after which the personnel visited railway station and took the man into custody. The police said that during their interrogation, they found the youth to be suffering from mental disorder.
As no official complaint was filed in this regard, the case was not registered, it is gathered.
