Mangaluru, Oct 18: Canara Oraganization for Development and Peace (CODP) organized a Deepavali programme for the staff of CODP on Tuesday, October 17 at CODP Mother Teresa hall.
The programme was presided over by Fr Oswald Monteiro, director of CODP.
Fr Jagadish Pinto, director of Gladsom Home and Cyril Vas, coordinator from CODP were also present.
Antony Nazareth, animator of CODP, welcomed the guests and also other participants. The programme commenced with a prayer led by Lydia Moras, animator of CODP.Mamatha, animator of CODP explained about the meaning and importance of Deepavali festival.
Cyril Vas in his speech greeted all participants on the occasion and said that Deepavali is perhaps the greatest festival in our country wherein all the members of a family come together to celebrate. He then invoked blessings of peace, joy and prosperity on everyone.
Fr Jagadish Pinto said to the participants, “We all are one family and hence should celebrate all religious festivals every year. All the religions should live in peace and harmony.”
Fr Oswald Monteiro, director of CODP in his speech explained the meaning of Deepavali. He said Deepavali is the festival of lights and we should also shine and spread light among others. He wished all participants a happy Deepavali.
At the end of the programme, festal lunch was served and sweets were distributed to all who participated.
Revathi, animator of CODP, compeered the programme and Savitha, animator of CODP, proposed the vote of thanks.
