Mangaluru, Oct 17: ‘Shikaregar’ Konkani comedy play, written by Richie John Pais and directed by John M Permannur, was staged to a houseful audience at Don Bosco Hall on Sunday, October 15.
Veteran stage couple Benna and Minna Ruzai was honoured during the occasion.
In a brief stage programme prior to the drama, Producer Alwyn Tauro, Assistant Parish Priest of Rosario Cathedral Fr Anil Fernandes, Daijiworld Media Founder Walter Nandalike, renowned Konkani poet Melvyn Rodrigues, Social Workers, Denis D’Silva and Nirmal D’Souza, Entrepreneurs Vinod D’Souza and Walter Roche, Richie John Pais and John M Permannur honoured Benna Ruzai on behalf of Benna and Minna couple.
Sophia Tauro read out the citation. Benna Ruzai thanked the Konkani theatre lovers for their continued support and love. Fr Anil Fernandes presented a cheque of Rs 50,000 to Benna and Minna couple on behalf of the ‘Shikaregar’ troupe.
Nirmal D’Souza wished all the best on behalf of the spectators and guests. He said ‘Abhaya Friends’, a social organisation which is into social service will make a difference to the society. Abhaya Friends was the main well-wishers of the drama.
The drama troupe also presented help of Rs 25,000 to the family of recently deceased Rosario School Physical teacher John Lobo and Rs 15,000 to Leena Rosario as medical help.
Jeevan Vas, Roshan Lasrado, Usha Fernandes, Nigel Pereira, Roshan Lobo, Hanley Coelho, Steffi Pereira and Crystal Merchant acted in the drama. Denzil Pereira was the music director. Stage design was by Steven Fernandes. Chris Electronics provided sounds and lights.
