Udupi, Oct 15: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and Yoga guru Baba Ramdev will be among the participants in the much-anticipated national-level 'Dharma Samsad' (religious parliament) being organized by the VHP in Udupi from November 24 to 26.
This was announced by VHP leader Gopalji in a press meet here on Sunday October 15.
"VHP is all set to organize Dharma Samsad' from November 24 in Udupi. Around 2,000 religious leaders of the Hindu community from across the country will take part in the religious parliament. Yoga guru Baba Ramdev, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Guruji, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath and other spiritual and religious leaders will take part and witness all forms of tradition and culture of our land.
"On November 26, a session will be held on caste discrimination of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, and other issues like Hindu independence, cow protection, and comprehensive cow protection law. The Samsad will pass resolutions on banning cow slaughter, stopping religious conversions, harmony within Hindu society and construction of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya.
"State and district leaders will also take part in the discussion. The same day, there will be a mega procession followed by public meeting," he said.
"Paryaya Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math will be the president of the Dharma Samsad welcome committee, Dharmasthala Dharamadhikari Veerendra Heggade will be the vice-president. The patron of the event will be Mysuru Maharaja Yaduveer Krishan Datta Chamaraja Wodeyar, chancellor of Nitte University Dr Vinay Hegde, and Erya Laxmi Narayana Alva. Chairperson of Vivekananda Yoga centre Dr H R Nagendra will take charge," said Gopalji.
"Accommodation will be arranged for the sages who attend the Dharma Samsad programme. On the occasion, an exhibition will be organized to showcase the Hindu culture. A rath yatra will be carried out from October 25 till the day of the event to deliver the message of Dharma Samsad," he said.
Vice-president of Vishwa Hindu Parishat M B Puranik, Bajrang Dal leader Sharan Pumpwell, Vilas Nayak and others were present.
'Politicians breaking society'
Prior to the press meet, Gopalji inaugurated Dharma Samsad preliminary meet of Udupi city representative at Raghavendra Math here.
"Today, politicians are breaking down the society in the name of caste. Politicians are greedy about politics and forming groups within the community and enjoying power due to the conflicts that occur," he said.
"Politics breaks society. There is only one religion that will connect the society. Vishwa Hindu Parishad is not limited to any caste and class but it connects without any discrimination," he added.
Secretary T A P Shenoy said, "Hinduism cannot be preserved only by education, you have to be energetic. Representatives should be enthusiastic."
