Udupi, Oct 15: Thanks to Facebook, police personnel from here could trace a boy who had suddenly gone missing without a trace from Manipal three years back, from Mumbai. The boy in question has been identified as Prem Kiran (13), foster son of Sridhar K Ameen, living at Hudco Colony in Anant Nagar, Manipal.
The boy, who left his home at 4 pm on January 20, 2015, with the stated purpose of playing in MIT grounds, did not come back home. After searching for the missing boy through various sources and contacting many people, Sridhar Ameen had filed missing complaint in Manipal police station on January 31 that year. Although the police had put in efforts, they had failed to find out the boy's whereabouts.
In the recent past, inspector of district crime intelligence bureau and district anti human trafficking unit, Ratnakumar G, collected information about the boy being active on Facebook since this year. With the help of cyber crime cell at Bengaluru, the police personnel here went to Mumbai and found out Prem Kiran from Dava Bazaar in Prince Steet, Kalbadevi, Mumbai. He was escorted back home by them.
The boy said that he had no interest in studies and therefore had run away from his native place, driven by the desire to earn by working. He assured that no one had abducted him and that he was never involved with any anti-social organizations.
