Kundapur, Oct 8: "People involved in theft of cows are not stealing the animals for beef alone. They actually are driven by the zeal to insult Hindu society by committing this act. There have been several thefts of cattle attached to religious centres and centres of faith. The cattle thieves get encouraged by the indirect support their activities receive from the state government. If activities like these continue, we will create awareness about this issue all over the district. The Gau Samrakshana Prakoshta (Cow Protection Cell) is prepared for any sacrifice even if a single drop of blood of a cow is allowed to fall to the ground," warned Udupi district BJP vice president and district in-charge of 12 cow protection cells, Baikady Suprasad Shetty.
He was addressing a protest meeting organized under the aegis of the local BJP block and cow protection cell at Shastri Circle here on Saturday October 7.
BJP media convener, Sulochana Bhat, speaking on the occasion, felt that lawlessness and cow slaughter have been witnessed increasingly in Karnataka because of the fact that an anti Hindu government is in place. She accused ministers in Congress government of shielding the perpetrators of such crimes. "Cattle thieves are not even sparing cow shelters. Going by the fact that the thieves do not hesitate even to break down huge walls for stealing cattle stands as testimony to the collapse of law and order situation in the state. When we go to police stations to register complaints, so many questions are posed. In a nutshell, the people have been disillusioned with the working of this government. Law and order situatiion has deteriorated everywhere. If the government fails to take stringent steps against cow theft and slaughter, strong protest will be launched," she warned.
BJP district vice president, Kishore Kumar, also addressed the gathering. Avinash Ulthoor, convener of Cow Protection Cell, was present.
BJP local area president, Suresh Shetty Kadur, welcomed and delivered introductory address. Satish Poojary, Yuva Morcha's local area committee leader, presented the programme.
