Most countries have one GST rate, a few have two. India has more than four. Even service tax, which earlier had one rate is now divided into four.
Number of returns to be filed under GST could rise several times in some cases. Small business with limited computer literacy, interrupting power supply and poor net connectivity will struggle or go out of business.
For consumers, India’s GST is one tax in the most practical sense that currently a bar of soap costs, theoretically, 29 different prices across 29 different states due to 29 different state VATs. Under the GST regime, there’s just one GST rate for a bar of soap: 18%.

Where India differs from other countries that have implemented GST is that there isn’t one single rate that applies to all goods or services. In Singapore, the tax levied on a pair of shoes and the tax levied on a bar of soap is the same – 7%.
In India, the GST council has come out with a rather unwieldy four-rate structure: 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%. In addition to this, there is the exempt category (0%) and additional cesses that are charged on top of certain products, which makes our GST regime have seven effective tax rate slabs.
Business with less than Rs 20 lakh annual turnover are exempt from GST. This creates scope for mushrooming of dummy small companies that remain outside the tax system.
Nearly 1/3rd of products (eg petrol, liquor, part of real estate… aren’t yet under GST). This will create problems for business that use these products as inputs.
The GST drama, caustically referred to as a "Grand Self-Promotional Tamasha", unfolded with a predictable brouhaha.
Interestingly, several economically backwards countries such as Jamaica, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Tanzania and Kenya have already taken cognisance of this issue and made sanitary products VAT free.In Modi's India imposed #LahuKaLagaan.

You bhakts should understand the problems faced by businesses. You impose gst at 18% & bhakts say why doesn't siddu reduce his sgst .sgst is 9%. Who told Mr. Modi to make changes in tax policies. Why can't our PM give 9% relief n states can take only 4.5% because the funds collected in Karnataka n Maharashtra are not used in the mentioned state. Why collect tax here n benefit backward states like up & bihar.siddu should charge sgst coz the funds collected are used for the development of karnataka. Why would u want to pay tax for development of UP bihar.

2000 crores for developing this might as well have a simple online process to gather grievances in the system itself . The software vendor then should work with govt officials to fix it systematically .

Our first concern is, ban polticians from travelling on buisness class flight seat. On tax payers money, no matter is it from bjp or congress.

Dear firing man we want to see your guts how you shut down Karnataka within half an hour.

Secondly, Ask Feku, Daaku and Jhootley why they have destroyed Congress built economy.

Thirdly ask Feku, Daaku and Jhootley who told them to impliment mindless demonetisation and hasty G.S.T.

    FOLLOWING IS MY SUGGESTION.

    REMIND THEM OF

    ದೊಣ್ಣೆಗೆ ನಿಮಿಷ.
