Mangaluru, Oct 6: Uttar Pradesh (UP) chief minister (CM), Yogi Adityanath, is a simple man. His routine on Wednesday at Kannur in Kerala and the city testified to this fact.
Adityanath took part in Janaraksha Yatra for 12 kilometers. He also took part in series of programmes thereafter till 1 am on Thursday. He slept for three hours and got up at 4 am to catch a flight to his state.
After taking part in the Padayatra at Kannur he came to the city at night and took a short nap at Jogi Math here. With his simplicity, he proved that in spite of being the administrative head of a state, he remains committed to simplicity and holds spiritual values in which he believes, high.
On Wednesday he had walked with other activists for 12 kilometers, braving hot weather, at Kannur. He began his journey to the city at 8 pm, covered 300 kilometers by road and reached Jogi Math in the city at around 11 pm. After offering puja to the presiding deity and meeting the head of the Math, he also took part in public programme where he addressed the gathering. All through the day, Yogi Adityanath never showed a trace of tiredness nor did he lose his temper. He was enthusiastic all through his address on Wednesday night.
After the public programme, he took part in a special interview to a vernacular daily as per the programme agreed upon earlier. It was 12 am by then. He then took bath, ate Roti and white rice along with a dish prepared out of Dal, potato, peas, cauliflower and bell pepper. In addition, he also ate a small piece of Halwa and a little milk-made porridge. After holding discussions with the Swmaijis in the Math, he went to sleep at about 1 am. Because of the high security provided to him, the police had tested the food offered to the chief minister before he tasted it.
As per customs, Swamijis of Nath school of spirituality sleep in thin beds known as Gaddi. Adityanath had not stopped this practice even after becoming chief minister. He slept on a Gaddi laid out for him in the first floor of the hall located in the compound of the Math, for three hours.
The Uttar Pradesh CM went to sleep at about 1 am, woke at 4, completed his morning routine, and had breakfast at 5.30 am. At 6 am he left for Mangaluru airport and travelled to Lucknow.
