Mangaluru, Oct 4: Mangaluru Bar Association staged a protest by boycotting the day's proceedings here at the sessions court on Wednesday, October 4, against the sudden transfer of senior judge Jayanth M Patil and demanded the appointment of a judge at the earliest.

The association condemned the incident as Justice Patel was transferred at a time when he was soon due for elevation to the post of acting chief justice of the Karnataka high court. All the lawyers boycotted the day's proceedings at the court.

“Karnataka high court should have appointed 82 judges. At present there are only 27 judges serving at the high court. Due to less number of judges, the disposal of cases gets delayed. Hence, we demand the appointment of remaining judges at the earliest. The sudden transfer of a senior judge has hit hard the entire association,” said a press release of Mangaluru Bar Association.

The association also demanded the unconditional revocation of the transfer order of Justice Jayanth M Patil for the smooth functioning of judicial system.

Mangaluru Bar Association president M R Ballal, vice-president Pushpalatha, general secretary Dinaker Shetty, treasurer Sujith Kumar and others were present.

It seems govt is not giving much importance to law and order.

Now no importance for "order, order"
    Now for everything "aadhaar, aadhaar".

The whole legal system in our country is steeped in corruption and most of these fellows are part of that system. They are as bad as the politicians, probably worse than them.

Only 27 judges are working instead of 82... the govt is playing with the life of public by dragging the cases for 10 / 15 / 20 years..... This is the beauty of social justice system ... If the govt do not have money to appoint judges, let the courts collect 10 K / 15 K per case from the litigants and the public will be happy to see the cases are disposed off EARLY .... Justice delayed is justice denied .... all requests and suggestions will fall on DEAF EARS....
