Mangaluru, Oct 4: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath was accorded a warm welcome by local BJP leaders at Mangaluru International airport late night on Tuesday October 3.
This was Yogi Adityanath's first visit to Mangaluru, in fact to Karnataka, since becoming the chief minister of UP earlier this year.
He had previously visited Mangaluru in 2016 to participate in the anointing ceremony of the new raja of Jogi Math here.
He arrived by a special flight at around 11.45 pm, and was received by MP Nalin Kumar, former MLA Yogish Bhat, Umanath Kotian and others. BJP workers were present in large numbers to welcome the UP CM.
He arrived in Mangaluru en route to Kerala. After landing at the airport, he headed to Bekal Fort resort, just as BJP president Amit Shah had done a day ago.
On Wednesday October 4, he will participate in BJP's 'Jan Raksha' rally, which Amit Shah flagged off earlier in the day at Payannur to condemn the murders of RSS and BJP activists in Kerala under CPI(M) regime.
The 'Jan Raksha' rally will move through different places of Kerala and culminate at the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram on October 17.
Meanwhile, Amit Shah left to New Delhi from Mangaluru airport. On his way from Kerala to Mangaluru, he was accorded a warm welcome at Talapady by scores of BJP members.
