Mangaluru, Oct 3: BJP national president Amit Shah arrived in the city in the early hours of Tuesday October 3.
Shah was scheduled to land at Mangaluru International Airport at 6 pm on Monday October 2, but the flight was delayed by more than seven hours. He arrived at the airport at around 1.15 am by a special flight.
Sources said that due to Shah's committments in Gujarat where he was busy with 'Gujarat Gaurav Yatra', he started to Mangaluru later than expected.
BJP leaders from Dakshina Kannada and Kasargod accorded a warm welcome to Shah at the airport. Among those present were MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, former minister Krishna J Palemar, BJP district president Sanjeeva Matandoor, former minister Nagaraj Shetty, S Angara, Mallika Prasad, and Kerala BJP leaders Muralidharan, Krishnadas, Surendran and others.
A large number of party workers were present to welcome their national leader. Tight security was deployed.
Shah proceeded to Kerala where he will stay the night at Bekal Fort resort. On Tuesday, he will offer special puja at Taliparamba Shree Rajarajeswara Temple and take part in a padayatra at Payannur. He will return to Mangaluru the same evening.
He will take part in a meeting of state BJP leaders and office-bearers at Ocean Pearl Hotel at 10 am on October 4. Later in the evening, he will participate in a meeting of BJP workers from the district at TMA Convention Centre. A meeting of elected representatives and BJP activists has also been planned.
