Puttur, Sep 30: BJP and Sangh Parivar held protests here on the night of Friday, September 29 opposing the arrest of HJV leader Jagadish Karanth who is accused making communally provocative speech against inspector of police station here.
Hindu Jagarana Vedike state secretary Radha Krishna Adyanthaya said that police who are unable to arrest Vaidehi and Bhagwan, who insulted holy books of Hindus Ramayana and Mahabharata, have arrested Jagadish Karanth who spoke expressing his trust on Hindus and the country. “We will not hide like cowards fearing arrests. We are obliged to create awareness in society. There will be protests throughout the state if Karanth is not released,” he warned.
Bajrang Dal leader and district leader of Gau Rakshak, Murali Krishna Hasanthadka, said that the police department has shown its impotence by arresting Karanth who is campaigning against anti- social and anti-trust work of some people. “If one Karanth is arrested, thousands of activists are prepared to fight against injustice like Karanth. If Karanth is not released by tonight, the government will be responsible for the consequences in the future”, he said.
BJP leaders Satyajith Suratkal, BJP district president Sanjeeva Matandur, Mandala president Chanila Thimmappa Shetty, municipal council president Jeevan Dajain, Sangh Parivar leaders Arun Kumar Puthila and others were present.
Jagadish Karanth was arrested on Friday afternoon in Bengaluru.
