Mangaluru, Sep 28: "Janardhana Poojary is a role model for politicians. His clean and adventurous political career speaks about his goodness. He has also supported many to become good politicians. Being a noble and able person, he has won the hearts of millions. I have also learned many things from him," said Dr G Parameshwara, president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC).
He was speaking at the 28th Mangaluru Dasara programme at Kudroli Shree Gokarnanatheshwara Temple here on Wednesday, September 28.
"India is home to many saints which means our soil is divine. The saints primarily preached equality in society. I belong to ST community but at the time of my birth I did not apply for ST category. It is just continuation of ancient caste system. In ancient India people were divided on the basis of work. Later same categories were turned into castes. It made the life of some categories very difficult.
"The saints tried to bring awareness against this caste system. They opposed the categorization of upper and lower castes. They tried to construct a society based on equality. They gave preferences to humanity," he said.
"Today we are in 21st century and the entire nation wants abolition of caste system. Social equality is very much needed in the current society. Equality will help in preserving peace in our society. We should teach our youths and young minds about this equality. We should make them the instruments of peace."
The people of coastal districts are known for intelligence and maturity. But somewhere some forces are trying to defame this region by communal violence. They are diverting the minds of youth towards social unrest. The people of coastal area should be vigilant about it and should not allow to spoil the good name. Goddess Durga is an icon of power. In every Dasara we worship her as destroyer of evil forces. May Goddess bless you in your fight against negative forces and make you powerful."
Addressing the gathering, Janardhana Poojary said, "God Gokarnatheshwara came to me in my dream and suggested Dr G Parameshwara is the right person for inaugurating the Mangaluru Dasara. If God suggests a person’s name then it means that the person has good qualities and he is a kind-hearted man. This is the power of this temple. God is showing his appearance here through these miracles. There is no doubt that Parameshwara will become Chief minister of Karnataka and President of India."
