Mangaluru, Sep 26: BJP is planning to organize a Padayatra in the city, in the light of the fact that the 'Mangaluru Chalo' bike rally it had recently organized was foiled by the government. The party is actively considering a proposal to lend a touch of buoyancy to the programme by getting national president of the party, Amit Shah, to lead the Padayatra.
When the party had recently planned bike rally, the state government had refused permission to it. As such, the bike rally did not succeed, and the party could hold a public meeting alone in the city. In the light of these things, it is learnt, discussions about the desirability and practicality of holding Padayatra here was discussed at the core committee meeting held at New Delhi a couple of days back.
There is information that Karnataka BJP election in-charge, Prakash Javadekar, has promised the state leaders to convince Amit Shah to participate in the Padayatra if the state unit of the party makes all arrangements to hold the Padayatra here. During the core committee meeting, this issue was discussed in all seriousness.
Amit Shah would be visiting Kerala from October 3 to 5 to hold Padayatra there to condemn slaining of Hindu activists in that state. As he will be travelling to Kerala via Mangaluru, state BJP leaders are planning to utilize this occasion to hold a Padayatra led by Amit Shah.
